Title I, Part A: Supporting Student Success at North Park

The purpose of Title I, Part A is to provide resources to schools and districts to ensure that all children have a fair, equitable, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and close achievement gaps.

At North Park, we use these federal funds to support:

  • Effective Instruction: Promoting enriched and accelerated programs for at-risk children.
  • School-Wide Planning: Encouraging school-based improvement and accountability based on results.
  • Family Engagement: Promoting meaningful partnerships between the school and our families.
  • Holistic Support: Coordinating with health and social service agencies to support the "whole child."
  • Targeted Resources: Focusing funding on schools with the highest needs.

Our Designation: Schoolwide Implementation

North Park Elementary and Middle Schools operate as Title I Schoolwide programs. A Schoolwide designation allows us to use Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program, benefiting all students rather than just a specific group.

While federal eligibility is typically based on Free and Reduced Lunch application rates, we recognize that these numbers don't always tell the whole story. According to the 2024 Colorado Kids Count report, 64% of youth in North Park live below the poverty line. Because our community's needs are high, we actively work to ensure our funding matches the reality of our student population.

How We Use Title I Funds

Every year, North Park conducts a Comprehensive Needs Assessment in consultation with parents, teachers, and community stakeholders. This feedback ensures our funding goes where it matters most. Currently, Title I funds support:

  • Reading Intervention: Partially funding a specialized reading intervention teacher at the elementary level.
  • Professional Development: High-quality training and instructional coaching for our staff.
  • Instructional Resources: Providing modern tools to meet students exactly where they are.

Results & Student Support

Our commitment to these programs is working. Over the last five years, North Park has seen a consistent growth trajectory in both reading and math scores.

We identify students for additional support through our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process. We continuously monitor progress and adjust interventions to ensure every student has the tools they need to succeed in core subjects.
